Former Official Linked to Process for Damage to Property

Benito Juárez, who was a collaborator of Miguel Treviño during his municipal management, has been linked to a process for failing to inform the San Pedro council about a suspension that prevented the demolition of a bridge in the Fuentes del Valle neighborhood. The former official faces charges of illicit exercise and damage to someone else's property, related to the demolition of the access bridge to the Ysabella development, built in a municipal area, for an amount of 15.5 million pesos. He is currently under house arrest.

This event directly affects the reputation of former mayor Miguel Treviño, as Benito Juárez was part of his team for six years in the San Pedro municipal administration. Councilors, syndics, and Treviño de Hoyos supported the revocation of eight permits for the development and the start of the bridge demolition in early 2024, after discovering Juárez's omission.

Despite these charges, Benito Juárez does not rule out the possibility of competing for the mayoralty of San Pedro again or joining a political party in the future. There have even been leaked polls in which he apparently leads the preferences for the governorship for the PAN heading into 2027. Juárez currently works at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and has expressed to his close circle his intention to return to the political arena soon.
